Holdcell is a three man band out of Altanta that brings an original brand of metal-spined funk-rock steeped in the blues. A genre bending sound that embodies the soul of rock and roll.
Holdcell is Lee Hackney on vocals and guitar, Chuck Smith on drums and vocals, and Evan Hackney on vocals and bass.
The band formed in 2006 shortly after Chuck sat in as emergency drummer on a booked gig that Lee and Evan's then drummer couldn't make. Chemistry slapped up against them so hard, they knew they had to go with it.
They took it to the studio and put it on the road. One result is 7 Heavy Grins, Holdcell's debut full-length CD that's spreading across the contiguous 48 with the same sort of infectious energy that gets crowds pumping and singing along in Holdcell's live shows. Reports of "I put the CD in and never took it out" just keep on rolling in.
These are regular guys you'd like to sit down and have a beer with; talk about everyday things. When they hit the stage -- Tight, professional, polished. Nothing slick or pretentious about it.
